Jared Rivers (Mel) charged with negligently making contact with
umpire Justin Schmitt in Q3. An early plea offered a $1950 fine.
Melbourne sought the adjudication of the Tribunal.
As an advisory note to media, Rivers was not charged with making
reckless contact as he did not set up directly behind the umpire. Slight
contact was made to the heel of the umpire as the umpire backed away
from the bounce.
On Tuesday night the tribunal found Rivers guilty as charged and he was
fined $2600 for the first offence. |
