Dean Solomon (Fre) was cited with a Level One rough conduct
offence against Shane Wakelin (Col) during Q??. The MRP found
the offence was classified as 125 points but because of Solomon's
past record his tally was increased to 232.81 points which means
that even by pleading guilty he will still have a tally of 174.61
points – well over the 100 point cut-off for a one match suspension.
Fremantle sought the adjudication of the Tribunal. The Tribunal
found Solomon guilty and suspended him for two matches. |

Reports:
l
Dean Solomon (Fre) was charged with striking Cameron Ling
(Gee) during Q1. The incident where Solomon struck the head of Ling
with a left elbow was assessed as intentional conduct (three
points), severe impact (four points) and high contact (two points).
This is a total of nine activation points, and any offence with nine
points results in the charge being automatically forwarded to the
Tribunal for its determination under MRP guidelines. He has an
existing bad record of three matches suspended within the last three
years. He also has 32.81 demerit points carried over from within the
last 12 months.
The Tribunal heard the evidence on Tuesday and the jury after
deliberation found Solomon guilty of the offence. He was suspended
for eight premiership matches.
l
Ryan Crowley (Fre) was charged with a level-two striking offence
against Gary Ablett (Gee) in Q1. Crowley's previous poor
record meant his suspension cannot be reduced from a one-game
penalty, even with an early plea. The Tribunal heard the evidence on
Tuesday night and following deliberation found Crowley not guilty of
the charge. |

Best: Fremantle: Rhys Palmer, Ryan Crowley, Byron Schammer, Aaron
Sandilands, Mark Johnson. Port Adelaide: Justin Westhoff, Warren
Tredrea, Kane Cornes, Domenic Cassisi, Danyle Pearce.
Umpires: Shane Stewart, Ray Chamberlain, Scott Jeffery.
Report:
The match day report against Nick Lower (PA) by umpire Scott
Jeffrey for making forceful contact
from front-on against Brett Peake (Fre) in Q3 was assessed.
It was the view of the MRP that Lower approached the contest bent
down and with his right hand down in an effort to gain control of the
ball. Although Lower did make high contact with Peake, he had no
realistic alternative way to contest the ball. No further action was
taken. |

Report:
Jeff Farmer (Fre) was charged with a Level Two striking offence
against Mark Nicoski (WC) in Q3.
The incident was
assessed as reckless conduct (two points), low impact (one point) and
high contact (two points). This is a total of five activation points,
resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125
demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record
of eight matches suspended within the last three years, increasing the
penalty by 50 per cent to 187.50 points and a one-match sanction. An
early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 140.63 points and a
one-match sanction.
In summary, Farmer's poor record means that his one-game sanction cannot
be reduced, even with an early plea.
Farmer accepted guilt and the MRP penalty of a one-match suspension. |
