Essendon sought adjudication of the Tribunal. At the hearing Lloyd pleaded guilty but the club tried to have the charge downgraded to striking. The tribunal deliberated and sustained the penalty of a one-match suspension.

l The MRP cited Andrew Welsh (Ess) for making forceful contact from front-on against Brad Green (Mel) in Q???. Acceptance of an early plea would draw a reprimand. Essendon sought adjudication of the Tribunal. After the hearing and deliberation the tribunal confirmed the penalty of a reprimand invoked by the MRP and the carry-forward of 93.75 demerit points.

u Mark McVeigh (Ess) was citied for striking Gary Ablett (Gee) in Q3. Essendon sought adjudication of the Tribunal rather than the MRP finding. At the Tribunal on Tuesday, McVeigh pleaded guilty to the charge but it was argued the punch was to Ablett's chest and not high as the MRP found. The Tribunal agreed and reduced McVeigh's demerit total from 185.63 points to 103.12 – changing the contact element from high to low. On the plea of guilty the Tribunal suspended McVeigh for one match.
