Jason Johnson (Ess) was cited with a Level Three striking offence against Sam Mitchell (Haw) during the first quarter. The MRP noted Johnson's five-year good record and offered a one-match suspension on an early plea. Essendon sought the adjudication of the Tribunal. The Tribunal found Johnson guilty of intentionally striking Mitchell with an elbow to the groin area and upheld the MRP suspension of one match.
