The tribunal panel found it was a negligent act, notwithstanding a poor bounce. The collision occurred after the first – and only – bounce of the match at the MCG. Umpire Nicholls told the tribunal that from that moment, the match officiators decided to throw the ball up after rain had made the ground slippery.
