l FRASER GEHRIG (StK) was cited for striking JASON CLOKE (Col) with a right fist to the stomach during the fourth quarter. Gehrig's action was assessed by the MRP as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point), in play (one point) and body contact (one point) meaning a total of six activation points – which relates to 225 demerit points and a two-match suspension.
Gehrig opted to defend the charge before the AFL Tribunal. The three-man jury of Richard Loveridge, Stewart Loewe and Wayne Schimmelbusch ruled Gehrig's actions in striking Cloke were reckless rather than intentional. The Tribunal suspended Gehrig for one match.
l STEVEN BAKER (StK) and ALAN DIDAK (Col) were fined $900 each for wrestling. Both players accepted guilt from the ruling of the MRP.

l 150th JOSH FRASER (Collingwood 2000-07) ...

THE MATCH:
Collingwood recorded an outstanding come-from-behind victory over St Kilda in wet, cold and miserable conditions on Saturday afternoon at the MCG in front of a hardy lot which numbered 57,247. In a see-sawing rain affected match, peppered with controversial umpiring decisions, the Magpies surged home with the last four goals to win by nine points.

Angus Morgan for Sportal named Dale Thomas as igniting Collingwood as they ran over the top of the Saints in the closing stages. Thomas was the Magpies' barometer on the day, influential early when the Pies held sway and outstanding in a tight finish with two final-term goals including the sealer.

No less important for Collingwood was Josh Fraser who picked up 20 possessions and 21 hitouts playing one-out in the ruck all afternoon. For the Saints, Fraser Gehrig was the most effective key forward on the ground with four goals while Nick Dal Santo maintained his excellent recent form with 28 disposals.

Sam Lienert in summary for the AFL webpage noted: With rain falling throughout, making attractive football difficult, goals came from opposition errors as often as they came from skill by the attacking team. The Magpies looked in control at half time when they led by 14 points, after kicking three of the last four goals of the first half, two of them from free kicks and one from a Saints' error in defence.

But St Kilda outscored them 5.1 to 0.2 in the third term, powered by a ferocious attack on the ball. When Gehrig scored his fourth in the opening minute of the last quarter, his team, 21 points in front, looked home. However, the Pies backed themselves and Mick Malthouse was smiling at the end of the day – who wouldn't with a side who laid on 72 tackles, the second most in a game this year.

COLLINGWOOD 12.17-89 (Cloke 2, Fraser 2, Thomas 2) best, Thomas, Fraser, Swan, ST KILDA 12.8-80 (Gehrig 4, Milne 2) best, Dal Santo, Gehrig, Harvey.
Saturday at MCG: 57,247.
