A file with a million stories
Consecutive wins & losses
at the same venue, 1897-2001
The remarkable MARTIN WINDSOR-BLACK followed up on something which had long intrigued me
– a collection of the longest winning and the longest losing streaks each club has
enjoy at different venues since 1897.
For the dedicated statophile, the file below contains a million stories, and a host of
detail for the trivia buff.
<> Which club holds the record for both the most consecutive wins at a venue and the
most consecutive run of defeats at a League venue?
The answer South Melbourne-Sydney.
The Swans won 24 successive matches at the Lake Oval in the 1930s, a record they share
with Richmond in the same era. The Swans also edged out St Kilda for losing a record 34
times against all comers on visits to Princes Park from 1966-R8 through 1987-R20.
MWB has done us proud with this splendid contribution to the Footystats files. |
