Melbourne v West Coast
Following a video review PHILLIP MATERA (WCE) was cited by umpire RAY KELSEY of interfering with an official during the third quarter. The Tribunal on Tuesday found Matera guilty of the offence and suspended him for two matches.

Fremantle v Melbourne
ANTONI GROVER (Fre) for rough play on CAMERON BRUCE (Mel) in the second quarter. Grover was found guilty and suspended for one match. Fremantle appealed the suspension.

The AFL Appeals Board on Thursday cleared Fremantle defender ANTONI GROVER from the one match suspension imposed by the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday.

Leppitsch was cleared of wrestling, however, James Hird, Brad Scott and Paul Barnard all pleaded guilty, for which automatic fines of $1200 were applied.

<> On Tuesday, AFL Investigations Officer Rick Lewis cited the following 11 players to face melee charges – Essendon: PAUL BARNARD, DEAN RIOLI, BLAKE CARACELLA, ADAM RAMANAUSKAS; Brisbane: SIMON BLACK, MARTIN PIKE, MAL MICHAEL, JUSTIN LEPPITSCH, DARRYL WHITE, CHRIS SCOTT, BEAU McDONALD. At Wednesday's Tribunal, Caracella and Chris Scott were found not guilty of the charge. All others involved were fined – DARRYL WHITE $3000, SIMON BLACK $1500, ADAM RAMANAUSKAS $1500, MARTIN PIKE $1200, MAL MICHAEL $1200, BEAU McDONALD $1200, DEAN RIOLI $1200.
<> Tribunal chairman Brian Collis QC said twice during the hearing that umpires should hold off laying charges in incidents where it appeared there might have to be an official investigation.
Collis indicated that several fines handed out for melee involvement were less than they would have been, because three players who were booked for wrestling in the same incident escaped with automatic $1200 fines.

<> From video, AFL investigations officer Rick Lewis cited eight players for their involvement in a melee during the first quarter – Port Adelaide's BRETT MONTGOMERY, MATTHEW BISHOP, JOSH CARR and DAMIEN HARDWICK, Essendon's JOE MISITI, PAUL BARNARD, GARY MOORCROFT and JAMES HIRD. All players pleaded not guilty at the Tribunal. Misiti and Montgomery were cleared of charges. JASON CLOKE (Col) for striking TYSON EDWARDS (Ade) in the second quarter. The Tribunal found Cloke guilty and suspended him for two premiership matches. Collingwood appealed the sentence. On Thursday, the AFL Appeal Board dismissed the appeal.
