Update ...
Bruce Kennedy
notes how unusual the ladder appears after Round 6 – only three clubs have more wins than losses –
St Kilda 6-0, Geelong 6-0, Port Adelaide 4-2, then eight sides on 3-3.

Delving deeper, the four premiership points gap between fourth and 14th is the narrowest ever. During the period since 1987 the previous low is eight premiership points in 2007, 2003, 1999 and 1992-94 (byes in these seasons). The largest gap is 18 premiership points in 1995.

And there's more.

There are eight sides (half the competition) on 3-3 this week. The previous high was seven in 2007. Since 1987 when more that 12 sides have competed, the lowest has been one in 2005 and 1990. In 1987 there were eight sides with three wins, but two of those had also played a draw.

The most recent occasion that there have been no sides on 3-3 was in 1958. The last occasion half the competition was on 3-3 was in 1955.
